The creative process was focused on sonic explorations of fences and various industrial metal surfaces in Kaunas, Žaliakalnis district. This district is considered special because of its exceptional modernist architecture, which is listed as a UNESCO heritage site. Thus, the entire Žaliakalnis district is full of private houses built between the wars. Each of them is unique in both appearance and spirit, as are the metal fences that surround the houses. Each fence has a unique timbre and most of them, in fact, even creak quite a lot - that is how old these fences are. The intention of the search for sounds in the fences was to find meditative, sacred and therapeutic sounds, with the idea that refreshment and calm can be found not only in nature but also in the urban environment where most of us spend our daily lives. Was this attempt of creating meditative music from fences a success? Well, maybe it came out a bit dark. However, most of the fences are rusty, heavy, huge. But by recording the fences in different ways (with pjezo, omnidirectional microphones, and so on), it became clear that each one of those fences is a whole separate sonic universe, which wouldn't take one album to express. After all, it is important to mention that this experiment took place during a quarantine period, when we were all isolated and severely confined to our immediate environment. So this sonor research on fences was also a great way for the author to keep herself from going completely insane.
