KAITrA is a duo formed by Ugne Makselytė and Saule Paulikaitė specially for the Yaga Gathering 2021 festival. The project combined Butoh dance improvisation by Saulė Paulikaitė and electronic music by Ugnė Makselytė, blending elements of Lithuanian folklore with electronic dance music. The idea of combining Butoh, electronic dance music and Lithuanian folklore was born spontaneously, inspired by Gilles Deleuze's idea of the Body Without Organs, which led to the search for eclectic and unexpected creative solutions, such as the fusion of Baltic folklore motifs with the eccentric Japanese butoh dance. The artists wanted to try out a form that would not be limited to a clear representation, but would freely incorporate different elements from both artists' experiences and backgrounds, and thus embody the idea of a fundamental change as the basis of our existence.photos by Tomas Šaltis, 2021
