More about the project @kaunopasakos

Part of the EU Creative Europe 2014-2020 Platforms Project "Magic Carpets".

Sponsored by the Lithuanian Council for Culture

It was a collaboration with other artists participating in the Kaunas Biennial project, who took part in the Kaunas Capital of Culture program (KEKS 2022). The project aimed to create an interactive augmented reality experience that included both physical explorations of the space and audio-visual works created by collaborating artists from different artistic fields: musicians, writers, graphic designers, actors, and painters. The idea and narrative of the project were based on the industrial tales of the famous Lithuanian writer Julius Kaupas about the city of Kaunas.

The project places newly created tales about Kaunas and its inhabitants in the very centre of the city. The tales have been created and depicted by nine Kaunas artists and creators, based on Julius Kaupas's book Doctor Kripštukas in Hell. This book is a collection of fairy tales that intertwines philosophical thoughts, humour, fairy tale motifs, wisdom and eternal values, and brings to life the secrets and beauty of Kaunas.
