Text (translation and spoken word performance): Ugnė Makselytė

The Rite for the Black Sun is a synthesis of music, text, dance and theatre based on the 20th century French playwright Antonin Artaud's radio play "Pour en finir avec le jugement de dieu". The play is a critique of the socio-political phenomena of its time and a blow to the dogmas of Western thought and the hegemony of rational reason that have been established over the centuries. In response to the text, the performance is like a game on the edge of absurdity, an attempt to rethink the meanings of beauty, ugliness, reason and madness.

In 2019 The work was performed in Lithuanian festivals "Funikulierius" and "Sapfo" as well as in the Museum of Devils in Kaunas and XI20 social space in Vilnius.
